Like I said, I’m kind of undecided about Joe Madureira. I gotta hand it to the guy, he’s very talented. He actually started pencilling for Marvel as a teenager. He’s just really good at drawing stuff that makes people say “COOOOOOOL!!!”

However, and this has actually always been an issue for me:
He simply cannot draw a female character without putting her in a “Fuck-Me” pose. I wish there was a nicer way to say it, but I also wish Joe would stop doing that.

-What is the point of Red Monika, as a character? Joe is NOTORIOUS for procrastinating and missing deadlines. He never even finished Battlechasers. As far as I can tell, Red Monika only ever showed up to look like the image I posted. She apparently helped some guy train with sword fighting. Right. She looks ready to wade into battle.

-It’s pretty bad when the publisher makes you change a cover for a cheesecake focused book like Vampirella. Those are the pencils and then the final version. Joe had to change it from being complete tentacle porn to her at least making an attempt to fight. Sort of. Vampirella is a cheesecake character, I get it. But, come on.

-Yes, everyone saw that same issue of Heavy Metal with Hajime Sorayama illustrations. Again, what purpose does this serve for the character of Ultimate Vision? What does it have to do with her? Does this image relate to the story? At all?
(Hint: Not even a little bit.)

I don’t mind PinUps, I don’t mind cheesecake. I draw the line for what I like when it becomes an issue of sacrificing story for the sake of cheesecake.

I am also not a prude:
-Serpieri’s Druuna is beautiful. The work is just gorgeous.

-Milo Manara’s “Click!” series is very well done. Seriously, he does facial expressions, body language, and conversational art better than almost anybody. ungoliantschilde:

Probably the creepiest and coolest caterpillar you will ever see.
It’s called Phyllodes Imperialis and is nicknamed the Halloween caterpillar.
The last picture is what it looks like as a moth.
When other creatures bother it, it draws itself up and stretches its skin until it looks like a large animal with two blue-black eyes and several rows of teeth between them (1st picture)
